Real estate and construction law, business law, law of persons and family Law

Pascal Rytz

Founder of Espace Legal, he is driven by a deep conviction that law is a powerful tool for resolving even the most complex challenges.

After earning his Master’s degree in Law from the University of Geneva in 1994 and being admitted to the bar in 1998, Pascal built a distinguished career by founding and co-leading several law firms in Geneva and the canton of Vaud. Clients may recognize him from his work with Solutions Avocats, Arc Avocats, or more recently, AAA Avocats.

In 2020, as the world adapted to new ways of working, Pascal combined his passion for law and technology to create a more agile and client-focused legal service model. This vision led to the development of Espace Legal, where streamlined communication and digital tools offer clients greater flexibility and efficiency.

Sincere condolences and hello debts!

23 June 2025
by Pascal Rytz
I lost my grandfather this summer. My mum and I are his sole heirs. Last week we found out that my grandfather hadn't paid all his bills and that he'd hidden a number of debts from us, even leaving certificates of default! We thought that these debts were extinguished with...

I'm being made to toil like an elf...

23 June 2025
by Pascal Rytz
I work for a toy company that experiences a considerable peak in activity around Christmas. Can I be expected to work until I'm exhausted in order to meet last-minute orders? Does the law say anything about production methods or working conditions in this context? Finally, certain practices...

Who's chasing the thief? Gendarme or policeman

23 June 2025
by Pascal Rytz
During a discussion, my young son solemnly announced that he wanted to make a career "in the Geneva police by becoming a gendarme to fight crime". I pointed out to him that the gendarmerie was not part of the police force, but he insisted that it was. I did a bit of research and as a result I couldn't...

Elections and foreigners

23 June 2025
by Pascal Rytz
I enjoy strolling through the streets of Geneva, which have recently been plastered with countless posters for the forthcoming 'municipal' elections. I suppose it's too late to stand, but I might be interested in doing so in future elections. A friend told me that you can be elected even if you're a foreigner...

How can I lend my car without risk?

23 June 2025
by Pascal Rytz
I live in Geneva and have a car that's in good condition but quite old. I've just had a great opportunity to buy a new one, which I've also registered in Geneva. I'd like to lend my old car to a relative who lives in the canton of Vaud for probably a year. Following your last article, I...

Noise to tear up the floorboards

23 June 2025
by Pascal Rytz
We are two very unhappy co-owners in a condominium because an upstairs neighbour is playing miniature golf in his living room and has even created a small course through his furniture! In our view, this contravenes the building regulations, not least because it considerably increases noise pollution for the flats below when...

Can I get fired over the phone?

23 June 2025
by Pascal Rytz
I recently took on a permanent contract and am currently in my three-month trial period. Last week, while I was out for a walk on my day off, my employer called to tell me that my contract was being terminated. He gave me no explicit reason and didn't even...

Obligations and contract law

23 June 2025
by Pascal Rytz
Living in France, I was recruited for a job in Geneva and found a parking space for my car. Unfortunately, I was made redundant and had to terminate the lease on my car park. However, according to the landlord, I will remain responsible for paying the rent until the end of the term agreed in our...

What about my chances of becoming Swiss?

23 June 2025
by Pascal Rytz
I have lived in Geneva for over 50 years and worked here for 47 years. However, I've had financial difficulties, including personal bankruptcy and certificates of default. Now that I'm retired and have French nationality, is it still possible for me to obtain Swiss nationality? L Ordinary naturalisation in Switzerland is...
