In general

Esport and artificial intelligence are experiencing rapid growth and raising new, often cross-cutting, legal issues. With technological innovations, emerging business models and regulatory frameworks still under construction, these fields require an approach that is both rigorous and adapted to their digital reality.

In esport, issues at stake include player contracts, the image rights, the intellectual property digital content, as well as competition rules and relations with broadcasting platforms.

Artificial intelligence, for its part, questions the notions of responsibility, of data processing, the algorithmic ethics and protection of machine-generated works. Our aim is to innovate, to be at the cutting edge and to offer quality services to players, creators, companies, institutions and digital players in understanding and securing the legal aspects of their activities in these constantly evolving fields.

Esport

Evolution and law

In just a few years, gaming has established itself as a sector in its own right, at the crossroads of entertainment, technology, and professional competition. Its gradual structuring raises a variety of legal issues affecting traditional areas such as contracts, employment law, services, and copyright, but within a specific, often transnational, digital environment.

The players in esports (players, clubs, organizers, broadcasters, sponsors, game publishers) interact in an ecosystem where the rules are still being developed, sometimes set by private platforms or the publishers themselves. This makes it all the more necessary to ensure legal security for relationships and activities such as sponsorship or broadcasting contracts, conditions for participating in competitions, remuneration, management of image rights, and handling contractual or disciplinary disputes.

Our firm is here to guide you through this constantly changing landscape, with an approach that is both pragmatic and attentive to the specific features of the competitive digital sector. Our lawyers will do everything to keep you at the top of the scoreboard.

Artificial intelligence

Development and international standards

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) is profoundly transforming economic, scientific, and administrative practices. Whether we're talking about predictive tools, automated data processing, decision-making systems, or content creation, AI is raising a host of new challenges and novel legal issues, including the extent of liability, data protection, intellectual property, and technological ethics.

Faced with this rapid development, legislators are struggling to keep up. Several international and European initiatives (the European Union AI Act, UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of AI, OECD AI guidelines) are seeking to establish a regulatory framework for usage, algorithm transparency, system security, and risk regulation. Switzerland, while remaining committed to its legal sovereignty, is participating in this global dialogue by gradually adapting its existing instruments.

Our firm is closely monitoring these developments to refine its advice for any developer, company, institution, or professional user regarding compliance, risk management, and the legal valuation of AI-based solutions, in line with emerging international standards. Thanks to our ingenious and enterprising lawyers, we can provide you with an approach tailored to your needs.
